Beadweaving :: Gallery Pattern

Many months ago my friend Christine showed me a pattern that she created called "Gallery." I had asked her if she'd show me some basic bead weaving stitches, of which one of them was square stitch. Not a difficult stitch, but does take time to work your way through a bracelet.

However, it really shouldn't take 6 months! I started it, and then got side tracked with all the other projects on my beading table. Only to find it several weeks ago and to pick it up and finish it.... one evening just hanging out with the family.

I've been wearing the bracelet ever since. It fits so comfortably on, and actually feels like I'm not wearing it at all. Which in my opinion is a great thing since I type at the computer most days. And can't stand to have a bracelet clunking into my desk and key board all day long! I've had lots of compliments on this one, but this one isn't for sale. I know I've told you all before that I don't wear much of the jewelry I make, but this one will get a lot of rotation in the ones that I do actually wear. It's my new favorite.

  3. HI:-)
    I also like the square stitch and use it sometimes.The bracelet is really fine: simple,with the modern look and decorative at the same time.Nice colors,the sort of beads used and the closure.

  4. Ooo, you finished it off with those olive AB matte beads! Love those! From the start, you put your own twist on it and it works so well. That is always the hope when you show someone something new to try...that they will put their own thoughts and style into it and make it their own. It is THE MOST comfortable piece of jewelry I own/have made/wear so it is not surprising you have kept it for your personal adornment :-) Enjoy!!!

  6. I love square stitch and I can just feel how flexible and sleek this would be, wrapped around your wrist! Great color choices for Christine's design -- gives some lovely texture. Beautiful work - it almost looks loomed!

  7. It is gorgeous! I love the color. It looks like it feels so soft on. The extended time it took to complete was well worth it. I never wear bracelets for the computer reason (they are only worn when I am going out). :)

  8. Beautiful Cynthia, I am so glad that you finished the bracelet it would have been a shame to leave this one in the unfinished projects box. I love the colors you chose. The positions of the cube beads give it an art deco feel.

  9. Love this! I think a darker color (or metallic) would make it look really exotic. I love to knit but I think beading would require enormous patience!

  11. It's lovely and the color is so cheery! I wear my caterpillar bracelets because they don't feel like I have anything on either. Gotta love comfy bracelets!

  12. Beautiful! I love the colors on the border! I'm with you - when I am typing, I cannot have a bracelet banging on my keyboard - this does look like a bracelet that solves that dilemma! I love it!
