I was trying to figure out just exactly how my theme for this month was going to come together for Alicia's challenge of 'seasons.' Then it hit me. The beautiful rose quartz that Alicia gifted me would be absolutely perfect for that Downton Abbey look, which I also know that Alicia has a fondness for all things Lady Mary. Truth be told, I just might have a slight fondness for Mathew.
I decided to create a piece that I thought would fit into Lady Mary's wardrobe. What fun would it be to see her wear this! I love the designs of this era, and think it is fantastic to see how the show is influencing styles today... it is the return of elegance in my opinion.
The rose quartz cabochon is framed with black agate. The rest of the necklace uses rose quartz rounds, black agate, midnight sandstone and large onyx rondelles. It is a simple pattern, but I was looking for a statement piece that Mary might wear. Sometimes I love the drama of matching light and dark stones, and the pink in this feels so romantic to me.
I had to also include a mood board to show you the many sides to Lady Mary through the seasons of Downton Abbey. This one is for you Alicia - enjoy! Now to see what the rest of the seven artist's created please visit: Alicia (our host), Christine, Emma, Monique, Sally and Therese.
Oh my goodness Cynthia, this is an absolutely STUNNING piece; I love it!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind I'd like to pin it.

How pretty!! waoo
ReplyDeleteI think Lady Mary would look lovely wearing this necklace! It's beautiful and I love the pink quartz with the black beads. It's very elegant.
ReplyDeleteHi Cynthia,
ReplyDeleteGirl you nailed it your necklace is gorgeous and yes I can see Lady Mary wearing this piece. It has a Edwardian feel as well as a Early Modern feel.
I enjoyed Downton Abby, but got so far behind on the episodes, I really need to get wifi hooked up in my house so I can catch up.
Therese
OK, now I'm ready to cry: first Therese, then you. This is such a gorgeous idea, and I totally see Lady Mary wearing this with one of her dresses (she seems to have a fondness for dark purples, this one would be just perfect!). And to be honest, my addiction to Downton Abbey might have started as a girly infatuation with Matthew (who wouldn't love him?!) combined with the wittiness of Lady Violet, but there isn't a character I don't love in there (even the negative ones are perfect, you somewhat must love them :) ).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your elegant design, I think it portrays Lady Mary perfectly: it seems to be delicate, but it is much stronger than one would expect. Perfect.
Thank you - both for your wonderful participation month after month, and for thinking of me this time, I am deeply honoured and humbled at the same time!
Oh wow - not only did you make a fabulous beaded design around that beautiful stone, but your necklace design is gorgeous!! Your color scheme is perfection!
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate all the efforts you put into your blog posts.. your inspirations behind your pieces (and pics, too!!!)
Have a safe Memorial Day!
Breathtaking, Cynthia :) The black against the rose quartz looks electrifying!
ReplyDeleteHi Cynthia, I always find your designs inspiring and this is no exception. I wear lots of pink and it is my number two color,so your gorgeous necklace is something I would wear frequently. It is elegant but understated. I love it. I just made a pink and black bracelet for the waxed linen blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI just love this necklace! Lady Mary would wear it and you wouldn't be able to keep your eyes off of it.
ReplyDeleteThe pale pink and black look so great together on this piece!
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful and delicate piece with pleasant colors!Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI've just been catching up on Downton Abbey during this long weekend. How fun to see this beautiful Lady Mary statement necklace!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a super necklace!! I can definitely see it on Lady Mary, and I don't even really watch the show!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh that show. I was late to the party so I've been catching up on Canadian Netflix so I am decidedly not current. But OH everytime I think someone is my fav, another character does something to sway me. Not sure I'll ever decide bye I do think Mary gets to have the most fun fashion wise. I think you nailed it as a wonderful addition to her wardrobe. I love the high contrast
ReplyDeleteI am not a very pinkie girl (not soft/straight on pink anyway), but oh my goodness, this is GORGEOUS!!! Really gorgeous! If I saw it in a shop, I would have to try this on. The color combo, the design, the double strand, the triangle area where the cab attaches ~ every detail ~ is beautiful!!! A really lovely, feminine, elegant necklace, Cynthia ~ ya done great :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've been very busy my friend. This is a gorgeous combination of pink and black. Love this design.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone! A stunning piece! The black and pink just seem to meld into one and look so pleased to be together! Great job!

What a stunning piece! I can definitely see Lady Mary wearing it. Perhaps you could send it to her stylist to see if it can make it onto a show.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that show but that necklace is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a GORGEOUS piece, and yes, it is very "Downton Abbey". Love it!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous necklace, Cynthia! The color palette doesn't seem like it should blended together, but WOW the colors blend perfectly and give the design that old world romantic feel!! Spot on!!! :) STUNNING work!!!
