Will it ever stop snowing?

Right about this point in the winter I just want to see the flowers start to poke their heads above the snow. I just love those first arrivals with crocus followed by groups of snowdrops and small hyacinth. It blankets our side yard and tells us like a big neon sign that we're nearly through the other side of winter.

These are some of our snow drops from 2 years ago. A girl can dream ... can't she? I got up today to heavy grey skies, a cold that felt like my head was in a fish bowl and all I wanted to do was crawl back into bed. I managed to stay up today only to watch the snow start to fall. Five hours later ... yep, still snowing. The thought of having to get out there and shovel once it stops is enough to make me cry. Yeah, I'm sick and don't have control of my senses.

I've been meaning to post these little copper flower earrings, but my pesky day job has been busy lately. So today as I dream of crocus and snowdrops I'll post the only flowers I have in the house at the moment.

  2. Beautiful earrings... but not as beautiful as your smile. Here's to a break in the weather to bring back your smile!

  5. I feel the same! That's why I'm drawn to floral fabrics, because outside is just frozen. Sweet earrings :)

  6. I sorry you're not feeling well, Cynthia! We got snow yesterday also and then it turned to freezing rain which I think is worse! But, at least you're earrings are beautiful and hopefully you'll feel better soon. I love crocuses too, but we're going to have to wait to see them! Usually mine open this week.

  7. Hang in there! Everything is temporary. Craziness at work, your cold, and believe it or not, even this winter. Great earrings, btw. Grab spring where you can. Feel better!

  8. Another 4" on top of the 24" still in the yard...I am with you on needing to see the early bloomers! I hope a new day brings some relief to you illness, since we know it won't bring any to the weather conditions.
I am instantly drawn to these beauties because they remind me of crunchy dried flowers ~ not the kind we like to preserve and keep colorful and beautiful ~ but the kind that dry up and turn brown stay on their stalks outside. I take a few in then and put them in my mama's vase for the winter. The subtle colors are a comfort, just like your flowers here.

  9. Hi Cynthia,
I hope you get to feeling better soon. It has got to be a real bummer about the amount of snow fall y'all have had already this winter. Spring is coming you will see so hang in there.

  12. I hear your pain! It's sunny and warmish in Seattle, but I'm battling bronchitis and don't have the energy to take advantage of it.

    Your copper flowers are lovely.

  13. The earrings are darling! I hope you feel better today. The weather has been horrendous. We were spared yesterday. Although it snowed, it was only about 1 inch. There is a possibility we will see crocuses in a few weeks but there needs to be some serious melting of snow!

  14. Sweet earrings! Like budding closes, for sure!

Yesterday yielded 7 inches of snow, then freezing rain. My back, today, from shoveling that heavy stuff, is not doin well! Countdown to spring...feel better!!!!

  16. I hope your snow clears quickly. We're supposed to be on the tail end of winter, but you keep getting hit with storm after storm!
