It's a Snow Globe World

It is that time of year when we dream of warm weather while staring out the window at a snow globe world.

It's snowing through much of the Eastern US including my little corner of New England.

As pretty as the world looks covered in a blanket of white, I dread what comes next. Shoveling out.

I'm not sure exactly why but I've been quiet lately. I haven't been blogging, but I've tried to make it over to people's blogs. I think I'm in a reflective mood this year. Looking back to assess and forward to adjust. But sometimes life just happens, and all you can do is try to find the calm in the storm. I have been looking for that dead spot.

I know I haven't posted many new projects lately. That is because there isn't much jewelry making going on at my house except for this set I made for a friend who loves beach glass. She apparently is obsessed with it, and particularly multi-colored. I don't do blaring colors very well and decided to go with a classic soft green with pearl accent. I found some patterned leather that gives it a bit of flare. I hope she enjoys the set.

  1. The pearls and sea glass are beautiful and I love that the leather gives it an edgy feel!
I'm having a hard time getting into a routine after the holidays!

I hope the storm isn't as bad as they're predicting! Stay warm!

  2. I'm obsessed with beach glass too. Hoping this storm washes some stuff up at my fave hunting places. I could definitely live w/o snowstorms.

  3. It's that time of year for quietness and reflection, usually a good place to be while the snow is blowing.
I find that when I'm having a hard time being creative it helps to work on something that needs to get finished, like this beautiful custom order for your friend, really pretty!

  4. I know exactly what you mean about not much beading or blogging going on. I'm experiencing the same thing. I'm happy to hear others are going through the same thing. I really like your gift. I'm sure you're friend will love it. Stay safe. It's still snowing here!

  7. You might have had a lull with posting jewelry but when you finally did it, your really did BRING IT! This is one of the more spectacular pieces I have seen, right down to that sea glass on the clasp. And those EARRINGS!!!! Those are the clincher, as if this bracelet needed a clincher. Your friend is one lucky lady. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Soothing.

  8. Such a gorgeous set! I love how the sea glass works with that patterned leather. Your friend will surely fall in love with her new jewelry! I hope the storm was no too bad for you. We got lucky, not even a dusting! Winter here has been so out of character. We did have a pipe freeze though a couple of nights ago due to wicked cold temperatures!

  9. It's okay to give yourself space to breath. Reflection is so important to add meaning and depth to our lives. You will find your stride again, all in the proper time.

That is an amazing set. It's like a breath of frosty air, where the warmth meets the cold. It's rich and deep but also soft and elegant. You make it look so easy.

  10. Life just does happen and as long as you are adjusting well and loving yourself, that is the main thing! Sorry about all the snow! Nothing here, but I shouldn't jinx myself, winter is still here! I love the new set! Very pretty! Love the colours!

  11. Wow! That is one stunning set! Very clever use of materials too! Love it!

Hope you're not too snowed in! Just enough to not have to go to work at least! LOL!

  12. It seems a lot of us are quiet, blogwise and creatively, but the bracelet and earrings are lovely. What a gentle, warm jingle all those dangles will make when your friend moves her wrist. And I love your term "a snow globe world" -- so evocative, and much nicer than "I'm up to my rear in snow and really don't want to shovel any more."

  13. Such a pretty set! It's really dreamy. I see so much beach in it, but also a winter chill. Nicely done.

I get what you mean about being reflective lately. I'm feeling similarly here as well. Though, I keep trying to blog and share things, my heart's not been in it. Here's hoping you find your groove soon - one way or another. I'm glad you poked your head up from the snow to share this.

  14. I have not blogged in what seems to be "forever" either, nor have I been creating much. I hope that changes soon!

Love this combination you have here - the word "soft" does come to mind!

  15. This set is lovely Cynthia. The color is right up my alley and it pair really well with the metal you used.

  16. We get so little snow here in Seattle these past few years, I kind of miss it! The watery colors of your beach glass made me think of our winters here - days and days of misty rain, and itch periodic fog when I it's not actually raining. Very pretty.
