We talked about what might be appropriate, and originally my friend had suggested an elaborate pearl bracelet. But I suggested that she might want to stay elegant and understated given that the star of this event would be the engagement ring. Her new daughter in law has a pretty black pearl ring, so I encourage her to think about a simple black pearl bracelet and earrings. And not too 'matchy-matchy,' but complimentary.
What do you all think? What would you suggest if someone asked you this question?
The Ring, if there is one, definitely needs to be the star, as does the Man and Woman getting engaged. Good idea to make it about a nice extra gift to go along with other rings and not THE Ring. Also, an elaborate pearl bracelet might make the Daugher-in-Law-To-Be feel pressured to wear that at the wedding even if she has something else in mind.

ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect gift for a new DIL! Beautifully done! I love the bag in the pic, too! I made the wedding jewelry for my niece last year, and my mother made jewelry bags that look just like that one!

The bracelet and earrings are a wonderful idea! I think giving an understated gift is better since it is more wearable. These pieces can be worn dressed up or down!
