UFOs :: The Everyday

I showed you my first grouping of UFOs in my last post. There are more. Many, many more. But let's work on this pile first.

Next up is the dark purple glass cab to the right of the green one I just finished. This purple one almost looks black and has a faint pattern in it. It is so hard to photograph to bring out the pattern, but this picture off to the upper left was the best I could do.

I was wearing this one around the house to check how it hangs and if it needed any adjusting. My husband actually noticed saying "oh that's a pretty one." He so rarely comments on any of my pieces that it threw me. I do like the simplicity of this one, and that it would be good to wear for everyday. I wear a lot of black and this one might just be ok to wear to the office. I might need to take it out for a test drive for a meeting I have tomorrow.

  1. I love the purple bezel -- it's small size/subtlety draws the eye inward, to explore the glass and appreciate the patterns within. Your photography skills captured the pattern quite well. Sometimes simple is just best, and you do simple oh so well!

    You comment about your husband noticing this piece just gave me a thought for a random act of kindness. Wear a piece you don't plan to keep (and don't have a huge amount of time or money invested in). If someone notices it, and appears to really like it, gift it to them on the spot. It could be someone at work, someone at the grocery store, whatever. What a way to make someone's day/week. My problem is I don't wear jewelry. Ridiculous I know. Maybe I need to make a few pieces and wear them with that idea in mind.

  3. You are inspiring me with the tackling of your UFO stash. That necklace could go anywhere, I think - office to fancy to sporting. Very beautiful. It's also interesting to think of why an item became UF in the first place. I tend to finish the pieces I start but just build up folder upon folder of pieces, along with the supplies, in a huge box of to-do items that never seems to get smaller. Can't wait to see the next creation.

  10. Hi Cynthia! Responding to a few of your posts now b/c I'm just catching up on my blog reading!!! I feel the same way about the UFO's I also am distracted like crazy and have so many UFO's. I just love that Karen started this challenge and set up the blog hop!!! I very much love this black UFO that you completed. It's very simple, but very elegant. And to comment on a few posts back about "something just clicks and it feels like you've unlocked its secrets".....wow, I felt like that happened to me all at once for basically every stitch and tutorial I looked at. And it happened when I got my brain around Right Angle Weave. After that, everything just fell into place ! You Bernini stitch looks great!!!

  11. Haha ~ the one I made with you when you were giving me lessons is on my bead table as a UFO. I was going to finish it simply with a matte black bead chain. So, I am re-thinking that since you got to it first :-) When the husbands take positive notice, there is an extra swell of pride in a piece.
