Mojo :: On Vacation

I know a lot of us out there in beadland have been suffering from a loss of mojo. Not exactly sure where it went but there appears to be a large group of mojo off on vacation touring somewhere without us.

I've started beading again. It comes in bursts with gullies of nothingness in between. At least it is a start.

I decided that if I could just weave some patterns my hands know perhaps I could find some rhythm again. The funny thing is that the first stitch I turned to was herringbone. I can hear Christine giggling as I say this. It is so unlike me as it usually is my least favorite. Perhaps an unconscious sabotage attempt? Luckily it didn't stop me, and I moved on to other stitches.

The piece here is a chenille rope with soft creams and copper. I wanted to highlight the jasper focal with similar flecks of colors. I do love the earthiness of the stone and the inclusions are always my favorite. They make the pattern interesting, just like the bits and pieces in life. Life would be dull indeed if everything were simply smooth.

  4. I very much feel the loss when my Muse wanders off. This necklace is a sign that your Muse is not far away, she is hovering around ready to pay you more visits. Perfect choice of rope to complement the stone. Mmmmmmm yes!

  7. Beautiful Cynthia the soft colors of the rope lets the stone be the focal of the necklace, but in its own right just as beautiful as the pendant. I finally got my beading mojo back and it is wonderful to have it again. Now I just need to get back to blogging.

  11. I've alway thought those "ropes" of beads are so beautiful! I've never made any, though, and will probably never let myself because our apartment is too small for more hobbies! I was feeling a little uninspired to make things last month, too, but now I'm away and can't make anything so I think I'll be ready to rock when I get home!

  12. Well you'd never know you were in a mojo funk with that beautiful chenille rope and jasper focal! And I agree - I think herringbone is my least favorite too. The one thing that has kept me hopping this year has been learning some different techniques. I am a newbie with polymer clay and soldering and my first attempts had me running back to my beading comfort zone.

  13. My mojo had done flown far far away...LOL I finally sat down and made some new necklaces for orders....a friend called and needed help with some jewelry pieces so that was something different to have fun with. Sometimes our minds just need to rest! Love the necklace...that stone is beautiful!

    Sometimes just starting is the hardest part. But once we get going, the mojo returns :)

  17. Mojo on Vacation, I totally know what you're talking about. I know totally what you mean about going with what your hands know.

    Isn't it interesting what happens when we simply sit down and begin to stitch?
