BTW :: Out Like a Lamb?

Well I certainly hope that March calms down sometime soon. Tomorrow is technically the first (official) day of Spring, but seriously? It snowed again last night, and I shoveled my car at 5:45 am. Yep, it was still dark outside.

Isn't the weather suppose to be changing from 'lion-ness' and into the soft spring 'lamb-ness'?

Where does this term "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb' come from? Newsnet said it is from the constellations. That in the beginning of March the Constellation Leo (lion) is crossing toward the meridian, and as the month comes to a close, the Constellation Aries (ram / lamb) begins to rise. That is kind of a cool definition. But it still doesn't help me with the fact that there is snow on the ground ... still.

My BBA group decided that this month we'd create with softer, warmer spring colors. The colors of flowers and trees beginning to show their buds. Ok, well I can handle that. So I pulled out some 'sprout' green and hyacinth blue ... along with a pretty Chinese enamel butterfly bead. I start to bead rows of soft green. My Beady-Bloggy friend Christine recently showed me a great new pattern (well new to me) that I decided to use for this bracelet. I love this pattern, and at least it feels like spring on my bead table.

Well, March came in like a lion...and it's been pretty much like that for the whole month. We've only had a few decent days and the rest has been lousy! This morning I woke up to lots and lots of snow. Sigh...

Let's hope the lamb shows up soon.

I refuse to see the snow, I am ignoring it, Cynthia. Eventually it will be gone LOL. I'm glad to see you are looking toward spring as well. That bead pattern looks like even I might grasp it (as long as the beads were large enough for me to see!)

love the beadweaving. And the colors are great together. Like the description for the coming Spring - knew there had to be an ancient meaning! {:-D

GORGEOUS!
I simply love the soft green and the pretty butterfly bead! Very spring-y indeed :) We've had snow here as well. Sigh.

Hi Cynthia,
I sure hope that April is mild for everyone. I think your bracelet is very spring like and very beautiful. I love that pattern! Oh and did you know that it also qualifies as one of the stitches in ATTS 3?

Hmm... I'm not sure about the 'In like a lion' bit - here it would be far more suited to 'In like a wet fish' as March comes in under Pisces, and it has indeed been very very wet.

Love the bracelet by the way - some of my favourite colours :) I too am finding myself more and more drawn to bright spring-like colours as we head towards to official start of spring :)

Therese is right...variation on Ladder! And you did a fantastic job on this one. You made it all your own and you made it with a breath of fresh Spring air! I can smell the floral sweetness :-) Now if only Mother Nature would do the same in real life. Plenty more snow in the 7 day forecast. I am done. Cannot take the winter anymore. We have about 3-4 inches on the ground. March can be the most unforgiving month. It is full of promise of a new beginning but then it has to kick you a few more times. Well...HAPPY SPRING!!!

I just recenty learned about the idea behind the March lion and lamb constellatioons too. It really has nothing to do with weather.

Yesterday I drove in a snow/rain storm, and this weekend we are in for more snow!

What a beautiful BTW. The colors certainly remind me of spring.

Love the soft tonings you are using! I'm being selfish, the sooner it gets warm for you it gets cold for us, something I'm not looking forward to!

Love what you are creating here - the colors surely do scream Spring! I, on the other hand, am sad to see my favorite Season (winter) leaving....sorry! :)

That is so pretty and very spring-y! We're having one of our rain then sun then rain then sun days and it's creating havoc with my sinuses. I'm so ready for sun all the time!

These springy colors are so pretty together! I am waiting for the lamb thing too! March has been torturous. I clean off my car before 6am in the dark before showering. It feels like a workout sometimes!
